Actor Hwang Jung-min's private life rumors and call recording files have spread online, and Hwang Jung-min's side and the woman A who wrote the posts are taking opposing positions and disputing the truth.
On the 29th, a post about Hwang Jung-min's private life began circulating online. The author of the post, identified as A, released alleged messenger conversations and call records that they claimed to have had with Hwang Jung-min, causing an uproar.
While the authenticity of the material has not been determined, Hwang Jung-min's agency, Sam Company, labeled A a "stalking crime suspect" and hinted at strong legal action. On the other hand, A said she filed a formal trial appeal against the summary order and denied the allegations, claiming she is a "victim of exploitation" caused by power imbalance.
The agency said, "Mr. Hwang Jung-min filed a criminal complaint against the writer. The court imposed provisional measures such as restraining orders on the suspect three times and acknowledged stalking charges, issuing a summary order of a 3 million won fine. We plan to take additional legal action against the maliciously edited posts."
Hwang Jung-min's side said they had maintained contact unwillingly because of A's threatening behavior. According to a Dispatch report on the 30th, A was an ardent fan of Hwang Jung-min, and Hwang Jung-min's side said there was no physical intimacy or inappropriate relationship between them and that there were only three in-person meetings (a total of 5 hours and 30 minutes).
They acknowledged that Hwang's excessive favors as a celebrity and light business proposals may have caused A to misunderstand, but said subsequent contact was a "defensive measure" they maintained because of A's hints at extreme choices and threats to family members.
They asserted that after that, A sent 113 texts over four days, sent more than 10,000-character KakaoTalk messages along with photos of a dead cat and blood-stained tissue, secretly watched her son's school performance and sent ticket photos to pressure them, and judged those acts to be clear stalking crimes that prompted legal action.
A issued a statement expressing grievance and fully refuted the claims. Regarding the stalking charge that resulted in a fine, A explained, "The current stalking charge is being retried from the start in the criminal first trial, and there is no final guilty verdict. Also, the provisional measures were extended twice during the investigation and trial period as part of protective measures for the complainant."
She also claimed that their relationship was not one-sided stalking but a private relationship led by Hwang Jung-min. A said, "We met as an actor and a fan, and private contact began around August 2023 when Mr. Hwang Jung-min contacted me first. Mr. Hwang Jung-min told me, 'Now you are a business partner and acquaintance,' 'do not act like a fan anymore,' and I stopped fan activities."
A described the essence of the incident as "emotional and sexual exploitation that occurred amid a marked power imbalance and, at the same time, labor exploitation," mentioning the soju brand planning and novel writing she carried out at Hwang Jung-min's suggestion, and added, "What I did remains. Market research and design and product planning, trademark research, and about 30 novels written. But when the relationship ended, there was no settlement or explanation for that."
Responding to the agency's claim that the call recordings circulated online were maliciously edited, A refuted, "During the disclosure process I removed some parts before and after the calls and some of my voice. That was to avoid revealing my private life. Mr. Hwang Jung-min's remarks are intact, and I did not alter or add words that were not said."
Finally, A said, "What I have demanded for the past two years is only a direct explanation from Mr. Hwang Jung-min. That remains the same. The substantive truth of the two people's relationship cannot be covered by a procedural incident called 'stalking' that occurred during the course of the relationship, and it should not be buried. The rest I will reveal as evidence in court."
With Hwang Jung-min's side judging A's actions to be stalking crimes and pursuing additional legal measures, and A saying she is also proceeding with a first trial for a damages claim lawsuit based on illegal acts, the conflict between the two sides is expected to be resolved in court.
