Actor Jung Jun-won expressed his honest thoughts about the character's "official handsome" setting.
On the afternoon of the 30th at MBC headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held for the new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer. Actors Kong Hyojin, Jung Jun-won, Lee Sang Yi, Moo Jin-seong, Choi Woo-Sung, Lee Eunsaem and director Yoon Jong-ho attended the press conference and spoke.
A Bona fide Killer, based on the webtoon of the same name, is a drama about the struggles of a working mom with the most ruthless job in the world to protect her work-life balance.
In the story, Jung Jun-won plays Kwon Tae-seong, a social affairs reporter and the husband of Yoo Bona. In particular, Kwon Tae-seong had the "official handsome" setting in the story, so concerns were raised among fans of the original work during the casting stage.
In response, Jung Jun-won said honestly, "In the original, the character named Taesung had settings that made Bona (portrayed by Kong Hyojin) fall for him visually, but when it was adapted into a drama the script was rewritten and the character settings changed little by little, so from my perspective as an actor those settings weren't that necessary."
He added, "Anyway, Taesung has a kind of love and affection for his wife and daughter. I thought that his dedication and hard work at the workplace could look sufficiently cool, so I didn't think too much of it."
Director Yoon Jong-ho said, "To me, Jung Jun-won is very cool and handsome. Rather than the pretty boy in the webtoon, he is an actor who can handle realistic stories and grounded matters, so I think he absorbed everything beyond what I imagined," and added, "If the original Taesung was a character that was lacking in screen time or circumstances compared with others, in the direction we pursue that fits the drama's tone he is a much better character."
Meanwhile, A Bona fide Killer will premiere on the 31st at 9:50 p.m.
