HANRORO is stepping forward as the second performer in the "J-POP remake" project.
At 6 p.m. on the 30th, the second track of the "J-POP REMAKE" project featuring HANRORO, "A cruel angel's thesis," will be released.
"A cruel angel's thesis (残酷な天使のテーゼ)" is a song by singer Takahashi Yoko released in 1995, and even now, 30 years after its release, it is counted among Japan's representative anime theme songs and J-POP classics. It has maintained top ranks for a long time in karaoke anime OST popularity charts and is evaluated as a "national anime song" loved across generations, and it has been consistently loved in Korea as well.
HANRORO maintains the original's explosive energy and grand atmosphere while adding her distinctive delicate tone and depth of emotion to reinterpret it in her own style. It is expected to bring a new resonance to the familiar classic, raising further anticipation.
In particular, HANRORO previously reinterpreted "A cruel angel's thesis" in her own style on live stages. This remake raises curiosity about what kind of feeling it will convey to listeners.
Meanwhile, the "J-POP REMAKE" project was planned by Kangnam, a singer, broadcaster and multi-entertainer, and reinterprets iconic Japanese songs of their eras through the musical colors of Korean artists.
The project's first track, Taeyeon's "The Banquet Song," achieved balanced commercial success across major domestic music platforms, recording No. 1 on Bugs' real-time and daily charts immediately after release, a peak of No. 12 on Melon TOP100, No. 1 on Melon HOT100 (30 days after release), and No. 10 on Spotify Korea daily top songs, among other achievements.
