Actor Hwang Jung-min denied the private life allegations and confessed to being a stalking victim. At the same time, he will attend the scheduled stage greeting for the lead film "Hope."
On the afternoon of the 29th, a representative of the film "Hope" told OSEN, "Actor Hwang Jung-min will attend the 'Hope' stage greeting as originally planned," adding, "In addition to Hwang Jung-min, director Na Hong-jin, Zo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon will attend, and actor Um Moon-seok will join as soon as his schedule ends."
Hwang Jung-min is scheduled to attend all the stage greetings for the third week of release, which continue through the weekend, to communicate with the audiences who came to the theaters, and will fulfill his responsibility as the lead actor. In addition, Hwang Jung-min is listed in the lineup for the fourth-week stage greetings. Subject to change due to circumstances, the stage greetings in Daejeon and Songdo on Aug. 8-9 are scheduled to include director Na Hong-jin, Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Zo In-sung, and Um Moon-seok.
Earlier that day, posts exposing Hwang Jung-min's private life were published on various social media and online communities. On the accuser A's personal social media, they claimed to have had an inappropriate relationship with Hwang Jung-min and uploaded captured messenger conversations and phone call records between the two. The authenticity of the content uploaded to that social media was not verified. Nevertheless, A's one-sided claims rapidly spread far and wide.
In response, Hwang Jung-min's agency, Sam Company, issued an official statement saying, "The author of the malicious posts about Mr. Hwang Jung-min is a stalking crime suspect who continuously harassed Mr. Hwang Jung-min," adding, "Mr. Hwang Jung-min has filed a criminal complaint against the author. The court imposed provisional measures such as restraining orders on the suspect three times and recognized the stalking charge, issuing a summary order of a 3 million won fine. Sam Company will take additional legal action regarding the maliciously edited posts."
Meanwhile, "Hope" is the new work Na Hong-jin released after 10 years, who rose to master status with films such as "The Chaser," "The Yellow Sea" and "The Wailing," and it was officially invited to the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival and received much praise. It is an SF genre featuring creatures, and it is reported that about 70 billion won, the largest production cost in Korean film history, was invested. It surpassed 3 million admissions 11 days after release, and 4 million admissions are expected this weekend.<
