"A Bona fide Killer" revealed must-see points ahead of its first broadcast.
A new MBC Friday-Saturday drama, "A Bona fide Killer" (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hun), which premieres at 9:50 p.m. on the 31st, is a work that depicts a working mom with the most dangerous job in the world desperately trying to protect her work-life balance.
#A married woman and a killer's polar opposite double life! Kong Hyojin, active across home and workplace!
"A Bona fide Killer" unfolds around the double life of Yubona (Kong Hyojin), an ordinary housewife who is also the legendary sniper "Kingfisher." The setting, in which she lives as a wife and mother at home but transforms into a cold-blooded killer in front of criminals, offers a fresh source of entertainment.
In particular, the fresh premise that the legendary killer who punishes villains is actually a working mom weighed down by child care and housework promises a charm that differentiates it from existing action works. Kong Hyojin is expected to complete a three-dimensional character by moving between warm everyday acting and charismatic action.
#Kong Hyojin–Jung Jun-won, a wife who hides a secret and a husband who pursues the truth: a perilous relationship?!
Kong Hyojin and Jung Jun-won lead the drama with a realistic marital chemistry. But the relationship between Yubona, the wife who hides her identity as a killer, and her husband Kwon Tae-seong (played by Jung Jun-won), a reporter who pursues the truth of the case, adds tension.
Yubona struggles to prevent her husband from discovering her secret, and Kwon Tae-seong becomes confused as he confronts memories from the past while tracking "Kingfisher."
In addition, the couple's everyday life grounded in reality also evokes empathy. Yubona continues a busy daily life by playing various roles such as mother, daughter-in-law and sister-in-law, and Kwon Tae-seong helps with housework for his wife, promising laughter and empathy through realistic couple episodes.
#Killer Kong Hyojin vs. reporter Jung Jun-won vs. detective Lee Sang Yi, a full-scale chase to achieve justice!
The tense confrontation that cannot be missed includes Yubona, the killer who directly punishes criminals; Kwon Tae-seong, the reporter who digs into the truth to the end; and Detective Lee Dong-jin (played by Lee Sang Yi), who must arrest the perpetrator.
All three pursue justice, but each has a different way. Yubona metes out direct retribution to criminals who scoff at legal punishment, and Kwon Tae-seong and Lee Dong-jin approach the truth of the case in their own ways.
In particular, the clash of convictions expected to unfold when the close friends Kwon Tae-seong and Lee Dong-jin confront each other over "Kingfisher" from their different positions as a reporter and a detective is expected to further raise the drama's tension.
The production team said, "The profession of a killer is extraordinary, but Yubona's efforts to balance work and family are an everyday experience anyone can relate to. Please pay close attention to what concerns this married woman and killer has and what choices she makes. Viewers will be able to feel unexpected humor and humane charm."
