Actor Hwang Jung-eum recalled the heyday before the controversy.
On the 29th, a video titled "'Trustworthy Hwang' summoned her peak day" was uploaded to Hwang Jung-eum's YouTube channel.
That day Hwang Jung-eum dressed up as the characters from her representative works to shoot new profile photos. While transforming into the character Oh Ri-jin from "Kill Me, Heal Me," Hwang Jung-eum recalled, "After 'Kill Me, Heal Me' ended and 'She Was Pretty' aired, both were total mega-hits."
The production staff asked, "Did you get cast by audition?", and Hwang Jung-eum, sounding incredulous, replied, "'Kill Me, Heal Me'? An audition?"
She snapped, "What audition? After 'High Kick' I was automatically the No. 1 choice for every drama," then added, "Until the embezzlement, I was definitely the No. 1 choice," confessing a 'self-induced downfall' that drew laughter.
The production staff asked, "Wasn't your chemistry with Jisung really good?", and Hwang Jung-eum reminisced, "It was the best. I think I learned melodrama from oppa. Jisung oppa told me, 'Jungeum, you just need to do melodrama slowly.' I have a hasty personality and had mostly done romantic comedies, so I wasn't good at melodrama, but Jisung oppa guided me well."
Meanwhile, last May it was revealed that after divorcing her ex-husband, Hwang Jung-eum embezzled about 4.34 billion won from her one-person agency, causing a stir. Afterwards Hwang Jung-eum repaid the full embezzled amount, and taking that into consideration the court sentenced her to two years in prison with a four-year suspended sentence.
