Singer and actress Jisuyun will return to the stage after about two years with the musical "Caffeine."
Jisuyun has been cast as the female lead Sejin in the musical "Caffeine," which opens on Aug. 20. She will be the first to take the opening performance stage of the romantic comedy musical that represents Daehangno, meeting audiences.
"Caffeine" is a representative Daehangno romantic comedy that has enjoyed steady love since its premiere in 2008. By day barista Sejin and by night sommelier Jimin share a single café in a unique setting, drawing a sweet yet bittersweet love story. The play captures realistic dating stories that anyone might have experienced, earning deep sympathy from the 20s and 30s generation.
In the play, Sejin, whom Jisuyun portrays, is a flawless professional at work but clumsy in love as a barista. Because the role requires expressing realistic romantic emotions and delicate psychological changes, Jisuyun plans to complete her own Sejin with stable vocal ability and even deeper emotional acting.
This production is also meaningful as Jisuyun's musical comeback about two years after the 2024 musical "Butch Hanan." Having expanded her musical capabilities while working as a singer-songwriter, Jisuyun is expected to showcase more mature expressiveness and stage presence when she returns to the stage as an actress after a long time.
Jisuyun is a singer-songwriter formerly of the group Weki Meki who debuted as a musical actress in 2022 with the musical "Bungee Jumping." Since then, she has steadily built her filmography by appearing one after another in "1976 Harlan County," "The Three Musketeers," "Crash Landing on You," and "Butch Hanan."
In particular, Jisuyun will continue active activities in the second half of the year while preparing a new album alongside the musical. Having signed an exclusive contract in April with the comprehensive entertainment company Mound Media label tapes (tapes), attention is also focused on her diverse steps crossing music and acting.
Meanwhile, the musical "Caffeine," in which Jisuyun appears, will run from Aug. 20 to Oct. 25 at The Good Theater in Daehangno, Seoul.
