Former Sechs Kies member Ko Ji-yong, who belatedly revealed he divorced his doctor wife, has had the "signs of divorce" made public through Heo Yang-im's social media reexamined.
On the 29th, Ko Ji-yong wrote on his social media, "I divorced my wife two years ago," adding, "The reason I did not make it public until now was because I wanted to protect my son Seung-jae so he could fully accept the situation and grow up stably."
After Sechs Kies disbanded, Ko Ji-yong stopped entertainment activities and married family medicine specialist Heo Yang-im in December 2013. In 2014, he embraced his son Seung-jae. Heo Yang-im became known after appearing on several programs as a family medicine specialist, including KBS 1TV's Morning Yard and Secrets of Life and Death, and KBS 2TV's Vitamin and Yeo-yu Manman.
In particular, Ko Ji-yong and his son Seung-jae appeared on KBS 2TV's The Return of SUPERMAN from 2017 and received much love. Although he had stopped entertainment activities after Sechs Kies, he returned to broadcasting with his son and showed a harmonious family image.
Even after leaving The Return of SUPERMAN, interest in Ko Ji-yong's son Seung-jae remained strong, and Heo Yang-im continued to communicate by sharing family updates on social media.
However, in recent years it became difficult to find mentions of her husband Ko Ji-yong in posts, which led to various speculations. Fans were curious because she had often shared the family's harmonious moments.
In particular, curiosity intensified because even in a letter received from their son Seung-jae on the 19th there was no trace of Ko Ji-yong. Heo Yang-im revealed Seung-jae's handwritten letter alongside the caption, "Summer news from the New Zealand ski camp. He said he's training alone well, and the son is already worrying about mom's meals."
Heo Yang-im added, "My heart was moved by the words thanking me for sending him to the ski camp. Don't get hurt, eat well, sleep well, and come back. Mom will also keep our two spots here well."
In the letter he wrote, "To mom, Mom, I'm doing well in New Zealand. I'm training hard and listening well to the coach, so don't worry. Mom, eat well by yourself and don't overexert yourself with hospital work. Thank you for sending me to the ski camp. Next time, come with me just the two of us."
The letter included expressions such as "eat well by yourself" and "just the two of us," and Heo Yang-im's phrasing of "our two spots" drew attention. Not only was there no mention of Ko Ji-yong, but the use of "two" raised questions. After Ko Ji-yong belatedly revealed he divorced two years ago, many reacted that these expressions made sense.
