Singer and broadcaster Kangnam confessed that his weight nearly reached 100kg during his school days.
On the 27th broadcast of SBS's 'No, but really' (hereafter 'No, but really'), Ko Jun-hee, Kangnam and Kim Min-soo appeared as guests and drew attention with candid conversation.
That day Lee Suji asked Kangnam, "Were you popular in school?" Kangnam answered, "I really wasn't popular. I was about 100kg," which surprised the audience.
Hearing this, Lee Suji asked, "Did you lose weight to become an entertainer?" Kangnam recalled, "I placed second in a band audition with 3,000 applicants. If you weigh 100kg and get second place, that's amazing. At that time the chairman told me to lose weight and come back."
He confessed, "I got so mad that I lost about 40kg in three months. I fainted two or three times," and "After losing weight the chairman told me to come, so I debuted."
Later Kangnam mentioned his past as an idol main vocalist, saying, "The boss said he'd make Big Bang, but after making ours (M.I.B) a debt of 5 billion won occurred and the company went under," adding to the sadness.
Kangnam said he received orders at the time not to greet or speak because his Korean was poor. He joked, "One day the senior Girls' Generation called out to me, asking why I didn't greet them. When I explained the concept they said that wouldn't do, so from then on I greeted with a 90-degree bow."
