Cho Yeojeong of 'The Affair Was Just The Beginning' revealed her feelings about reuniting with senior Kim Hye-soo 23 years after the historical drama 'Jang Hee-bin'.
On the morning of the 28th, at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, a production presentation was held for the Coupang Play series The Affair Was Just The Beginning.
The Coupang Play series The Affair Was Just The Beginning is a runaway chain-collision black comedy in which a popular influencer couple who have been selling the image of a happy family and a neighboring doctor couple embroiled in a muddy divorce lawsuit become entangled in an unbearable secret that makes even an affair seem trivial. Director Lee Chang-hee, of Murderer? and Hell Is Other People, raised the production's completeness with delicate direction, and Firstman Studio, produced by Kim Ji-yeon and director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who sparked a global phenomenon with the mega-hit Squid Game Season, handled production, increasing expectations.
In the drama, Kim Hye-soo (playing Kyung-hee) and Kim Ji-hun (playing Jae-hong) portray the influencer couple, while Cho Yeojeong (playing Su-jeong) and Kim Jae-cheol (playing Bo-seong) portray the cold neighboring doctor couple who are in the midst of a divorce lawsuit. The four actors vividly depicted characters with their own desires and secrets, completing tense relationships, and their overwhelming acting synergy promises intense entertainment.
Kim Hye-soo and Cho Yeojeong worked together on the KBS2 historical drama Jang Hee-bin, which aired from 2002 to 2003. At that time, Kim Hye-soo played the title role Jang Hee-bin, and Cho Yeojeong was a newcomer who had just begun acting.
Cho Yeojeong said, "One of the reasons I chose this project was that I could see Hye-soo unni. Opportunities to see her in projects are not easy. I thought that if I worked with unni we could make something really fun," adding, "The feelings I had as a youngster when I worked with senior Kim Hye-soo during her newcomer days in Jang Hee-bin were that she was an actor who gave off the energy that made me feel I could accomplish anything with that senior. I talked about it when we spoke on the phone this time as well and she said, 'If I work with you I can do anything! I feel like we can do anything.' To me she is that kind of presence."
Kim Hye-soo also said, "In fact, we met a long time ago when we were both very young and unfinished actors. And one of the great joys of doing this work was being able to encounter Cho Yeojeong, who has steadily and seriously grown while honing her skills and substance," adding, "I think you will feel how three-dimensional the character Su-jeong that Cho Yeojeong played is and how she overwhelms and dominates the screen. I was excited every time I went to set with Cho Yeojeong, and I was happy to watch her acting. All those memories were precious, and it was truly a valuable opportunity. To meet a good actor and a good work, in that sense this project was special," showing her affection.
