Actor Tom Cruise and KT Holmes's daughter Suri Cruise legally changed her name and severed ties with her father.
On the 27th (local time), according to U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six, Suri Cruise (20) legally changed her surname from 'Cruise' to 'Noelle'.
When Suri registered to vote in Pennsylvania in October last year, while she was a first-year student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, she used the name 'Suri Noelle'.
A Pennsylvania court confirmed that residents must use their legal name when registering to vote. It was also confirmed that Suri did not file a name-change petition in Allegheny County, raising the possibility that she completed the name-change process in New York before entering college.
It is not known exactly when Suri legally changed her name, but it was reported that she had publicly used the name 'Suri Noelle' for several years.
In particular, she drew attention by using the name 'Suri Noelle' instead of 'Suri Cruise' on the LaGuardia High School graduation program in New York in June last year.
At the time, a source told Page Six that using the middle name 'Noelle' of her mother KT Holmes was a way of showing respect and affection for her mother, and said she wanted to avoid paparazzi and establish her own identity and make a fresh start at college.
Meanwhile, Tom Cruise and KT Holmes had Suri in 2006 and married the same year. However, after divorcing in 2012, Suri was raised in New York with her mother KT Holmes.
KT Holmes once said in an interview that she felt she and Suri grew up together. By contrast, Tom Cruise is reported to have been effectively estranged from his daughter for a long time, reportedly due in part to his Scientology faith.
