The truth behind the repeated tragedies that have spanned generations of the United States' prominent Kennedy family is revealed.
On the 28th broadcast of KBS2's "The secret of celebrity soldiers", the program focuses on the truth of the "curse" surrounding the Kennedy family, which produced presidents, Ministry of Justice Ministers, and senators, and secured both wealth and fame.
Contrary to its glamorous reputation, the Kennedy family has been the subject of the phrase "the Kennedy family curse" due to unending tragedies such as assassinations, accidental deaths, and drug addictions. In particular, as many as nine direct members of John F. Kennedy's immediate family lost their lives over two generations, placing the family at the center of numerous lingering questions and conspiracy theories to this day.
On this broadcast, political scientist Dr. Kim Ji-yoon appears to provide an in-depth analysis of various conspiracy theories surrounding the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, as well as the background to the repeated tragedies in the Kennedy family.
Lee Chanwon, who usually shows a skeptical stance toward conspiracy theories, confessed, "I come to believe a good deal about the Kennedy family curse," raising curiosity.
Comedian Kim Ji-yu, by contrast, made an unexpected confession: "When I date, I'm cursed to be particularly attracted to 'men with stories.' This seems to be hereditary too." Hearing this, Lee Chanwon replied, "My father will be shocked watching this on TV," turning the set into a sea of laughter.
The program also approaches, from a medical perspective, whether the repeated tragedies surrounding the Kennedy family are linked not to a simple "curse" but to genetic predispositions.
Doctor and author Lee Nak-joon focuses on the "sensation-seeking tendency" commonly observed among members of the Kennedy family. He suggests the possibility that a tendency to constantly seek new experiences and strong stimulation may be related to genetic factors and will also explain in detail the DRD4-7R gene, known as the so-called "adventurer gene."
In particular, Joseph P. Kennedy, father of John F. Kennedy, is highlighted as the figure who most vividly displayed this tendency.
Having written a success story as the youngest bank president and a millionaire, he was also notorious for successive affairs and eccentric behavior, including bringing a mistress on family trips. It is reported that even Lee Chanwon, known as a devoted viewer of the show "Love and War," reportedly clicked his tongue and said, "That's really disgusting."
But more shocking was his distorted method of raising his children. Joseph Kennedy is known to have constantly compared and pitted his sons against one another and to have tried to thoroughly hide a sick child as a family shame. Analysts say his obsession with producing the best children ultimately sowed the seeds that drove the entire family into tragedy.
