Actor Kang Hoon boasted about the synchronicity with his character in My Bias, My Boss.
On the afternoon of the 28th, tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama My Bias, My Boss held an online production presentation that was live streamed. Director Park Ji-hyun and actors Kang Hoon, Kim Hye Jun and Cha Woomin attended the presentation and talked.
Based on the webtoon Our Brother Is an Idol, My Bias, My Boss is an office coming-of-age romance about a new employee, Nam Da-reum, who becomes "My Bias's employee" while trying to meet his "bias".
In the work, Kang Hoon plays Kang Ha-gi, the perfect CEO of Apello in both brain and physique. He said, "He's the CEO of Apello and meticulous in his work. At the same time, he praises when someone does well. After Nam Da-reum joins, the character starts to creak little by little."
When asked about details for portraying the character, Kang Hoon explained, "Because he's the head of a fashion platform, I searched a lot about how a platform CEO, not a fashion company CEO, works and how they dress, and matched that. Also, regarding work, he's a perfectionist and obsessed with work, so I studied a lot about how he works and how he behaves toward his subordinates."
He added, "I also thought a lot about how I would gradually approach someone who approached me and why I avoided people," and said he studied that part a lot. Regarding commonalities with the character, he said, "A perfectionist personality. I'm similar in being a planned J type," which drew laughs.
While hearing an episode about Cha Woomin, who plays an idol in the drama, MC Park Kyung-lim jokingly asked, "Don't you, Kang Hoon, also have exceptional dance skills?" Kang Hoon quipped, "I think I have exceptional dance skills. If I had properly learned, I think I would have become an idol."
When asked whether he felt any desire to play an idol role after seeing Cha Woomin, he said, "I wasn't interested. It looked too hard. We weren't prepared, but they kept practicing, so I wanted to take care of them somehow. They always practiced on their days off, so I felt uncomfortable even when I was resting." Cha Woomin added, "When we filmed the choreography scene, the two of them (Kang Hoon, Kim Hye Jun) drove themselves to the set. They came to support us. I was grateful," adding warmth.
Meanwhile, My Bias, My Boss premieres on Aug. 3 at 8:45 p.m.
