Star chef Jung Ho-young shared experiences with difficult customers.
On the 27th broadcast of KBS2 'Malja Show', Jung Ho-young appeared and shared stories with the audience.
While discussing troubles related to difficult patrons, Jung Beom Kyun asked about his experience, saying, "I heard Chef Jung Ho-young also had a hard time because of customers."
In response, Jung Ho-young said, "Because we do Japanese cuisine, one of our menu items is sashimi. A customer brought sashimi to-go and asked us to set up chojang and soy sauce. I went and told them it wasn't allowed, but they couldn't understand why. I was so frustrated that I spoke to an older brother who runs a bakery, and he said, 'We have customers who bring tteok cakes and ask us to cut them.' There really are customers like that," he revealed, causing surprise.
He continued, "Once, although we had poorly handled the service to some extent, as the customer was leaving he kicked the area by the register with his foot and shoved my shoulder like this and said, 'Jung Ho-young, I will make sure you go bankrupt,' and left," he said, shocking everyone.
Jung Beom Kyun exclaimed, "What could you have done so wrong.." and Jung Ho-young explained, "Food went out a little late in the hall. But there are people who get that angry about it," he said.
Upon hearing this, Kim Young Hee joked, "But even though he pushed Chef Jung Ho-young's shoulder, he probably didn't move him much. He must have been so angry that he kicked the counter once," drawing laughter.
Jung Beom Kyun said, "Being famous can be a good thing in some ways, but sometimes it feels like a double-edged sword," and Jung Ho-young confessed, "That's right. Since we are a bit famous, many customers do come, but because you have to satisfy those customers and send them off happy, if you don't put in more effort, they may come once but never return. To make customers come, you have to try harder, and in fact I try to be at the restaurant on my days off unless I have filming or other commitments."
