Health trainer Yang Chi-seung revealed his current condition after suffering a gym lease fraud on Boss in the Mirror.
On the afternoon of the 26th, Yang Chi-seung appeared on the KBS 2TV variety show Boss in the Mirror (aka 사당귀).
Yang Chi-seung gained fame as a trainer for celebrities such as singer Park Jae-beom, actor Kim Woo-bin, and Seong Hoon. He previously appeared on Boss in the Mirror as a gym boss, but after falling victim to a gym lease fraud he closed the business and has been going through extreme hardship, including working as an apartment manager.
He returned to Boss in the Mirror after three years. Known for his high-level cooking skills and interest in the restaurant business, he met chef Jung Ho-young and showed enthusiasm for taking on a restaurant challenge.
When Jung Ho-young asked about his condition, Yang Chi-seung candidly confessed, "I just finished working. Lately it feels like I am failing and continue to fail for a long time," drawing sympathy. He said, "I am still involved in legal litigation," and then disclosed the specific amount of damage: "What is visible is 1.5 billion won. If you add up the initial interior cost, facility cost, remodeling cost, lawyer fees, member refunds, deposits, and double-paid rents, it far exceeds 2 billion won."
Despite that, Yang Chi-seung said, "Trying not to let members suffer as much as possible is the minimum duty," and showed concern for his former gym members. In fact, Boss in the Mirror MC Kim Sook sympathized with Yang Chi-seung, saying, "Even in that situation he refunded each member one by one," expressing regret for him.
Jung Ho-young also sympathized, saying, "What happened to him is something anyone could experience," and, as a chef and restaurant business owner, related to Yang Chi-seung's experience of being defrauded in a building lease and key-money scam. Another Boss in the Mirror boss, fashion designer Ko Tae-yong, also expressed sympathy.
Regarding his damage, Yang Chi-seung explained, "The reason this came to light was that when the building was being constructed, contributed acceptance was about to begin. The building is on government land, but the building owner did not notify us," he said. To prevent this, Yang Chi-seung even attended last year's parliamentary audit and testified directly about his damages so that the Yang Chi-seung law could be passed to prevent similar victims. News of Yang Chi-seung's condition drew even more support.
Still, Yang Chi-seung stayed positive and, with Jung Ho-young, visited cost-effective restaurants favored by MZ customers. He recalled, "When I was very successful in the past I planned to buy a building in Gangnam at 45," but focused on the reality different from the past. He added, "Because Chef Jung introduced good places, I feel like my life will change once again," renewing his determination.
