Singer VV's provocative performance at 'Waterbomb Seoul 2026' has sparked an online debate over pros and cons. VV, who previously drew attention at a Waterbomb stage when a bikini strap came undone in an unexpected incident, once again attracted attention with a bolder staging this time.
VV took the stage at the outdoor global stage at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 25th.
That day, VV appeared wearing a white jumpsuit that revealed her figure and heated up the performance with hit songs such as "Bamyanggaeng" and "NappeunX." During the performance, she especially unzipped the front zipper of the jumpsuit to reveal a bikini outfit and continued the stage. She then knelt surrounded by male dancers and performed while singing toward a microphone positioned at face level.
Immediately after the performance, the scene spread quickly through social media and online communities. Some netizens said the staging was suggestive of sexual scenes and reacted, "a performance that crossed the line," "too explicit," "as a public performance the level should have been controlled," and "it was embarrassing."
On the other hand, there were many supportive opinions such as "it was a stage that fit the Waterbomb concept well," "a performance true to VV," "we should respect freedom of expression," and "her stage presence was overwhelming."
This stage has also revived discussion of VV's 2022 Waterbomb performance. At the time, VV experienced a harrowing moment when a swimsuit strap came undone while she was taking off a white T-shirt, nearly exposing her chest. VV, with a startled expression, hurriedly covered herself, had staff help adjust her outfit, and continued the performance, drawing attention for her professional handling.
Later, she recalled on a broadcast, "I took off my T-shirt at the water gun festival and the top strap came undone, it could have been a big problem," and said, "I usually don't use tape, but that day the staff told me to stick it on, so fortunately we avoided a major accident." With her trademark frank wit she also joked, "If even the front tape had come off, it would have immediately gone online," drawing laughter.
VV is an artist who has consistently attracted attention with her unrestrained performances and candid manner of speaking.
