Dancer and actor Cha Hyun-seung, who was declared cured of leukemia, reunited with singer Sunmi on the Waterbomb stage and shared an update on his healthy condition.
On the 26th, the Waterbomb Seoul 2026 organizers released a post on their official social media saying "This is it! We met again!" along with performance footage of Sunmi and Cha Hyun-seung.
The released video showed Sunmi and Cha Hyun-seung performing choreography together. The two, in perfect harmony, decorated the stage and drew enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
The reunion took place at the outdoor global stage at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, during Waterbomb Seoul 2026. The two previously drew great attention while performing together as singer and dancer on Sunmi's solo song "24 Hours Is Not Enough," after which Cha Hyun-seung became known as Sunmi's dancer.
However, last year he was diagnosed with leukemia and temporarily halted activities, causing sorrow. At the time, Cha Hyun-seung personally revealed his battle and shared the treatment process, and in December of last year he announced his recovery on his personal social media. He said, "They say I'm cured," and added, "The battle that felt like it would never end has finally come to a close."
He continued, "At first there was only fear, but receiving chemotherapy I realized the pain was part of the process that kept me alive," and said, "I began to laugh, and as I laughed the fear gradually disappeared." He also sent a message of support, saying, "I believe that all patients still fighting this battle will certainly recover. I hope you do not give up laughter and hope."
After his recovery, Cha Hyun-seung returned to the Waterbomb stage with Sunmi, reuniting with fans in a visibly healthier condition and creating an even more meaningful moment.
