Actor Joo Sang-Wook predicted the grand prize winner for Manager Kim So Jisub.
On the 23rd at the HB Entertainment building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, an end-of-series interview with actor Joo Sang-Wook of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Manager Kim (written by Nam Dae-jung, directed by Lee Seung-young·Lee So-eun, planned by Studio S, produced by Studio S·Fantagio(032800)) took place.
Joo Sang-Wook played Joo Kang-chan, a construction company chairman who rose from a hired thug, portraying in three dimensions everything from the cold charisma of a man of power to twisted paternal love and manic obsession, revealing a striking presence.
That day Joo Sang-Wook described co-star So Jisub, with whom he collaborated on the project, saying, I met him for the first time and acted and talked with him, and he is really innocent and a good person. I wonder how the actor So Jisub can be such a good person.
He added, That day we were hitting, getting hit and filming all day, but when they shouted cut he would immediately take care of things. All day long, and Because he is so good at action, he knows far more than I do, so we would say let's do it this way, let's do it that way, and I learned a lot. I had a lot of fun filming even while getting hit, he recalled.
Because the interview took place before the finale aired and the ending had not yet been revealed, questions arose about Joo Kang-chan's final fate. When asked whether Joo Kang-chan could appear in season 2, Joo Sang-Wook replied, I don't think so, and said, This is based on a webtoon, so there is a next story.
Joo Sang-Wook said, He gets hired at Baekho staffing agency and an incident occurs and another story unfolds, so it seems Joo Kang-chan might briefly pass by, but isn't it unreasonable to ignore the webtoon original and make something up? and added, Personally, I think it would be wrong if Joo Kang-chan appeared in season 2 and was still dreaming of revenge, and wouldn't the viewers get tired too?

Due to high ratings, predictions for season 2 and year-end acting awards continued from the early broadcasts. When asked about the possibility of Joo Sang-Wook winning an award at year-end, he laughed and said, There is absolutely no chance, and I did the math once. I don't think it will come to me.
Joo Sang-Wook said, I didn't even think about wanting awards, and this time there are many people in Manager Kim who could win awards, so I'm predicting four awards for the others. I think other people will win, he speculated. When asked for a specific awards list, Joo Sang-Wook said, The grand prize, best supporting actor, best female newcomer, best couple award, and said, I feel sorry for Hyeri regarding best female newcomer but I think Min-ji will get it. And just for fun, best couple would be Jin-chul and Han-su. I definitely don't think it will be me.
When asked whether he would be willing to take another villain role, Joo Sang-Wook said, It's not that I'm unwilling. I would like to play a villain with some narrative depth. It's not that I would refuse simply because it's a villain; of course if the character is good I'm open to anything.
Without a next project yet, Joo Sang-Wook said, I want to do a heavier drama, a work with weight. Something serious and weighty, and added, I think men all want to do noir. Male actors will all think that way.
Finally, when asked what kind of figure Joo Kang-chan would be remembered as in his acting career, Joo Sang-Wook said, I don't know how things will unfold in the future, but through Joo Kang-chan there is a before and after for Manager Kim. The concept is a little different, but I think the before and after will be different. I think Joo Kang-chan is a character that will never be forgotten in my life. I think it is the starting point that opens the curtain on another stage of my acting life.
