Actor Seo Sumin conveyed her father's reaction after watching "Manager Kim."
On the 27th, at a cafe in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, an end-of-series interview with Seo Sumin, an actress in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Manager Kim," was held.
Seo Sumin played the role of Kim Min-ji, the daughter of Manager Kim (played by So Jisub), and delivered such stable acting and a clear presence that it belied the fact that this was her first drama, leaving a deep impression on viewers.
When asked about her father's reaction after watching "Manager Kim," Seo Sumin recalled, "My father cried from the beginning rather than saying anything. For the scene where I carry spicy stir-fried pork into the room, he said, 'That's exactly the way I act, that's not acting but everyday life.'"
She added, "Regarding emotional scenes, he said there were many times like that between him and me, so it felt like he was watching me and you. I think my parents were more worried about how I would be on set than about the work itself. They worried so much and cried, which actually embarrassed me. I really filmed happily," she said.
When asked which of the four fathers in "Manager Kim" most resembled her real father, she said, "The character Park Jin-chul seems the most similar. And in reality, senior Choi Dae-hoon seems the most similar to my dad in personality."
Seo Sumin made her debut in "Manager Kim," acting opposite So Jisub, and also shared scenes with popular actors Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho. When asked if there were actors she wanted to work with in the future, she said, "Two names just came to mind. I want to act with senior Kim Go-eun and senior Lee Hae young. I know Kim Go-eun works across many genres rather than sticking to one, so her acting range is wide. I want to learn that from her."
Seo Sumin said, "I personally like senior Lee Hae young and would like to work with her. Her voice is so charming and I really like her acting style," revealing her fandom.
Because of her pale face, single eyelids and baby face, Seo Sumin has also been called a "lookalike of Kim Da-mi." She said, "I am very grateful, and earlier I thought I shouldn't name too many actors I want to work with, so I only mentioned two, but I really want to act with senior Kim Da-mi as well. She acts so well that I really want to meet her once," she confessed.
Regarding the positive responses about a second season of "Manager Kim," she said, "If it comes out, that would be really great. Even if I'm not in it, that would be good. I used to read the webtoon in middle school, so if season 2 comes out, wouldn't that be even better? I'm quietly building my expectations."
Regarding the reward vacation in particular, she laughed, "I'm going on the reward vacation too. We began filming "Manager Kim" when I was in high school, and right after the graduation ceremony we filmed in the Gwangyang area. I couldn't go on a graduation trip with my parents and friends, so I'm very happy to be going on a reward vacation this time."
