Actress Min Do-hee revealed behind-the-scenes details of a kissing scene with senior actor Kim Sung-kyun, who is 14 years her senior, in Reply 1994.
On the 26th episode of the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy, Min Do-hee joined as a new cast member of "My Little Old Boy."
That day Min Do-hee invited actors Kim Sung-kyun and Cha Sun-woo, who co-starred with her in the tvN drama "Reply 1994" (abbreviated "Reply"), to her home. Among them, Kim Sung-kyun had even performed couple scenes with Min Do-hee in "Reply." Born in 1994, Min Do-hee and Kim Sung-kyun, born in 1980, overcame a 14-year age gap and, as college classmates, showcased couple chemistry that drew attention.
Min Do-hee had even appeared in "Reply" when she was just 20 and newly an adult. She said her first impression was, "He felt like a scary ajusshi," and Kim Sung-kyun also confessed, "I felt sorry." Moreover, because Kim Sung-kyun was Min Do-hee's first kiss partner, who had just become an adult and had never dated, he felt a heavy burden.
Min Do-hee and Kim Sung-kyun laughed and corrected it to, "It wasn't a kiss, it was a peck." Min Do-hee also said, "Because we're human, we were nervous until we got on the boat. But the sun was more the focus than we were. We had to shoot to match the sunrise. When the sun rose, the director said, 'Put your lips together!' so we did," she said with a laugh. Kim Sung-kyun added, "The sun rises in an instant. If you miss it, you can't film it."
Min Do-hee also confessed, "I vomited right after that scene ended," revealing the severe seasickness she experienced at the time. Kim Sung-kyun praised her consideration, saying, "That patience," and, "She could have vomited and still filmed, but she held off until we finished filming." Min Do-hee replied with a laugh, "Oppa ate a lot of garlic at the seafood restaurant the night before we shot the kissing scene."
