Actor Park Sung-woong revealed behind-the-scenes stories related to the film "Shinsegae."
On the 27th, 'Donghaemul and Baekdu Eun-hyuk' posted a video titled "When a photo is taken, Jung-gu hyung looks like a gangster and weak hero Baku looks like boyfriend material at a drinking party."
That day Eun-hyuk asked Park Sung-woong, "Do you have many male fans?" Park Sung-woong answered, "Almost 80% are male fans," saying, "Because they all came through the movie 'Shinsegae,' so they don't express themselves much."
He added, "When they see me they all call me 'Jung-gu hyung.' It was released in 2013, so it's been 13 years, but now twenty-year-olds call me 'Jung-gu hyung.' They would have been seven when the movie came out, so they watched it after growing up," he explained.
Park Sung-woong went on to say that his image was not on the first poster, "At the time of filming, I didn't expect the role to be that impactful. But the director said, 'If the Lee Jung-gu character blows up, Shinsegae will be a hit,'" he recalled.
But Park Sung-woong said it was difficult to be cast. He said, "There were six candidates at the time, and the others were people who had all been leads. Frankly, the investors and distributors opposed me because it was a risk," he said.
He added, "But when I went to the VIP screening, right after it ended the head of the investment and distribution company came up and bowed 90 degrees and said, 'Well done,'" he said, eliciting surprise.
Later Park Sung-woong said, "The line 'I'll let you live' was almost completely cut for time. But when they removed that part, later the scenes didn't match, so it was kept," saying that thanks to that he could show his presence despite appearing for only 24 minutes in a film with a running time of over 2 hours.
