Actor Ryan Gosling joins the Marvel Universe as Ghost Rider.
On the 26th (local time), People and Page Six reported that Marvel Studios announced major casting news at Comic-Con in San Diego, saying that Ryan Gosling and David Johnson are joining Marvel.
Ryan Gosling will take on the next Ghost Rider in a solo film scheduled for release in 2028, joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the first time. Speaking on the Comic-Con stage, Gosling said, "As you know, this is a character I have really wanted to play for a long time."
With this, Ryan Gosling will work again with director Shawn Levy and screenwriter Jonathan Tropper after the film Star Wars: Starfighter.
Director Shawn Levy said, "Ryan is truly a top-tier actor. We spent a lot of time together making Starfighter last year, and when Ryan started talking about this character's story I said, 'OK, let's give it a shot.' See you in 2028."
David Johnson of the film Alien: Romulus joins Marvel as the new Black Panther. He plays the grandson of an adult T'Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman) in Black Panther 3. Previously, at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it was revealed that T'Challa had a son born from his relationship with Nakia (played by Lupita Nyong'o).
David Johnson took the stage and said, "I am grateful for the honor, privilege and blessing of becoming part of this amazing family."
