Group WEZAG member Doa is taking on a new challenge as a musical actor through the musical "Sunny Ten."
The agency A-Tunes Corporation said, "WEZAG member Doa has been cast as Junho, the lead role for the 15th season of the musical 'Sunny Ten,'" and "He will meet audiences with the first performance on July 30."
'Sunny Ten' is a retro jukebox musical based on the play 'Ten; the secret of ten days.' Based on popular songs representing the 1990s and 2000s, it cheerfully depicts stories of youth and love and has steadily won audiences' affection. The 15th season of "Sunny Ten" will be performed at JTN Art Hall 1 in Daehangno, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and Doa's first performance will take place on the 30th.
Junho, the role Doa will play, is a character who must win the heart of Hye-young, the daughter of the Director General of the broadcasting station, within 10 days in order to get the opportunity to direct a broadcast program. Hye-young also has the goal of being dumped by Junho within the same period so she can go study in the U.K., setting up a mismatched romance between two people with different plans.
Doa, who appeared on Channel A's boy group audition program "Youth Star" under his real name Kim Seung-hyuk and finished as runner-up, later joined WEZAG and has been actively performing back and forth between Korea and Japan as a member of the group.
Doa is devoting himself to practice to convey Junho's fresh yet sly charm through his own bright character and delicate emotional expression. The production draws attention because this is Doa's first challenge on a musical stage since his debut.
Through his agency, Doa said, "I'm nervous because this is my first time trying a musical, but practicing with such good actors, I'm learning a lot day by day," and "Starting with the first performance on July 30, I will do my best to convey Junho's bright and honest charm to the audience."
A representative of A-Tunes Corporation said, "Doa is an artist with not only vocal ability and performance but also a bright character and delicate expressiveness," and "Starting with this 'Sunny Ten,' we plan to actively support him so that Doa can broadly show his potential in music, performance and acting in various fields."
WEZAG, to which Doa belongs, is expanding active activities in Korea and Japan based on the team's identity of "moving in our own direction, not a predetermined path." Doa will continue activities as a WEZAG member alongside his musical appearance.
