Jewelry's Lee Ji-hyun shared her feelings after performing on stage with her members as a full group for the first time in 20 years.
On the 24th, a video titled "I went to visit Jewelry Ji-hyun sunbaenim who works at a hair salon in Gwacheon and got my hair done" was uploaded to Chaoru's YouTube channel.
That day, Chaoru met with Jewelry's Lee Ji-hyun through the "Chaoroom" content and talked. Earlier, Lee Ji-hyun last month on Seo In-young's Turning Over a New Leaf channel performed as Jewelry for the first time in 20 years with Park Jung-ah, Seo In Young, Jo Min-a and Ha Joo-yeon, excluding Kim Eun who lives in the United States. Chaoru mentioned the video and said she was moved, saying, "Isn't it showing passion, hope and strength regardless of age? Seeing people living passionately even as they get older is such an encouragement to us."
In response, Lee Ji-hyun said, "After our video came out many people cried. When I asked why they cried, they said that as people who lived in the same era, memories from that time came to mind and they cried a lot watching our video."
Chaoru asked, "Was that the first time you saw each other in about 20 years?", and Lee Ji-hyun replied, "We had seen each other's faces before. But performing on stage (was the first time). I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe that this gathering of ours is 20 years later. We still seem just as we did 20 years ago, so I couldn't believe that today is the spot 20 years later. How should I put it — a warm and cozy feeling. It's even reassuring. Because there are members. It really felt like a family reunion. It felt like I wasn't alone," she said.
Then Chaoru said, "That's the reason a team exists. Once you're a team, you're family for life," and Lee Ji-hyun agreed, saying, "That's right."
Meanwhile, Lee Ji-hyun debuted in 1998 in the girl group Circle, which later disbanded, and in 2001 she joined Jewelry as an original member and carried out activities. After her contract expired she left Jewelry in 2006; having suffered the pain of two divorces, she is raising a daughter and a son alone. Recently, she drew attention by revealing that she obtained a beautician license and has been working as a beautician.
