Singer Park Jae-jung candidly revealed for the first time the reason he stopped activities after his hit song "Let's not break up".
On the 24th broadcast of KBS 2TV's Happy Together - glad I'm not alone, Park Jae-jung and his mentor Yoon Jongshin appeared and had an honest conversation.
That day Yoon Jongshin mentioned Park Jae-jung's hit song "Let's not break up" and expressed affection, saying, "It was a self-composed song, and the songs that came out after were all good. I thought, 'I taught him well, now he's complete.'" He then smiled fondly, calling him "a protégé who surpasses the master."
But he also revealed the reason he suddenly stopped activities right after receiving great love. Park Jae-jung said, "I had muscle tension dysphonia and vocal cord nodules." He said, "I have recovered a lot now, but I'm very worried because I don't know when it might worsen again," and added, "I wasn't able to receive sufficient treatment in time and even entered the military." He continued, "I wanted to sing so much but was in a situation where I couldn't. If I couldn't sing, I felt like the unhappiest person."
Having continued treatment by going back and forth to hospitals, Park Jae-jung said, "After a lot of effort, I am currently about 70% recovered," and added, "I still think that being able to sing like this now is a miracle." He expressed a desperate desire for music, saying, "I want to go back to my original mindset and sing again like I did then."
Watching this, Yoon Jongshin was also moved. Yoon Jongshin said, "The image of Park Jae-jung when we first met 13 years ago flashed before my eyes," and said, "He was a 17-year-old boy, and somehow he's become someone in his 30s. I thought, 'He really grew a lot, he really became an adult.'" He added, "I hope he continues to sing healthily for a long time," offering warm support.
