The lead actors of SBS Friday-Saturday drama '김부장', which sparked a hit sensation in living rooms by surpassing 20% ratings for six consecutive episodes, shared their thoughts ahead of the final episode broadcast.
SBS Friday-Saturday drama '김부장' (writer Nam Dae-joong, directors Lee Seung-young·Lee So-eun, planned by StudioS, produced by StudioS·판타지오) marked its final episode D-DAY today (25th). Not only did it continue an unrivaled run of box-office-style success throughout its broadcast, but its 2049 rating also ranked overwhelmingly first among all programs aired that week, proving its singular topicality. Attention is focused on what kind of full stop the story of "the bespectacled men" will place.
So Jisub, who proved an irreplaceable presence at the center of the drama with heartfelt fatherly love for his daughter and explosive action, began through his agency by saying, "I sincerely thank all viewers who loved and supported 김부장." He added his special gratitude, saying, "I will not forget this overwhelmingly excessive love. I hope you enjoy the final episode to the end."
So Jisub selected the most memorable scene as the moment in the ending of episode 6 when he dramatically reunited with his daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Sumin), recalling at the time, "The line 'Dad's here. Let's go home now' made me choked up just from the script."
Choi Dae-hoon, who added laughter and depth to the drama with his performance that swung between slyness and gravity, said, "I received a lot of interest and love and filled up a huge amount of energy. I will return it with strength," expressing his resolve. He continued, "I am truly stunned and happy. As always, I will fold it carefully, put it away, shake it off, and return to the starting line," revealing his overflowing feelings. Choi Dae-hoon chose the scene in episode 2 when Manager Kim, having seen his wife off, welcomed Min-ji and began a new life as a standout moment.
Yoon Kyung-ho, who stimulated viewers' empathy as "Rock and roll Park Jin-cheol," known for relentless power action and warm humanity, said, "During the broadcast, everyone I met greeted me warmly and cheered so much that I could feel tremendous love," showing his emotion. He added a witty greeting: "I cheer on all the bespectacled men of this era and their families, and even the men who don't wear glasses. Fighting!" Yoon Kyung-ho selected the tearful father-daughter scene in episode 7 when Manager Kim reunited with Min-ji and the two ate dinner alone while holding back tears as a standout moment.
In the previous episode 9 broadcast, Manager Kim (played by So Jisub) succeeded in the life-risking operation to recapture Ri Eung-ryeong (played by Lee Jae-yong) together with Seong Han-su (played by Choi Dae-hoon) and Park Jin-cheol (played by Yoon Kyung-ho), but Ju Kang-chan (played by Joo Sang-Wook) captured their children as hostages, plunging them into a desperate crisis. With the children all kidnapped in the final episode, tension is mounting over the final blow they will deliver and the ending of the "dad universe."
Final episode broadcast today (25th) at 9:45 p.m.
