KBS issued a statement regarding singer Hwang Young-woong's performance of the "Recipe For Love" OST.
KBS said on the 24th in a response on its viewer petition board, "KBS producers learned of singer Hwang Young-woong's participation in the weekend drama Recipe For Love OST when there were four episodes left before the drama ended. However, by that time, the musical lineup, including the OST to be used in broadcasts through the final episode, had already been finalized, so regardless of the controversy surrounding Hwang Young-woong, it was difficult to additionally insert that recording into the broadcast."
It added, "For this reason, KBS informed the drama production company and the OST producer that Hwang Young-woong's recording could not be inserted into the drama, and therefore made clear that the recording could not be given the drama OST title. Generally, a drama OST refers to songs that were inserted into the broadcast. Because record release is the right of the record producer, we understand that the recording was released as scheduled, and we believe there is no description such as 'Recipe For Love OST.'"
Earlier, when it became known that a song sung by Hwang Young-woong would be used as the "Recipe For Love" OST, debate followed. Viewers opposing Hwang Young-woong due to private life controversies and viewers welcoming his return were sharply divided.
KBS said, "Separately from the controversy over Hwang Young-woong, we have officially raised the issue with the drama production company and the OST producer over the fact that a recording that KBS did not approve as the Recipe For Love OST was promoted as if it were an official OST," and OST producer NyamNyam Entertainment explained, "When we approached Hwang Young-woong to sing the OST, we thoroughly reviewed the previously raised controversies and judged there was no problem with his participation, so we proceeded with the offer. Rather than arbitrarily deciding on specific matters, we reviewed his musical ability and vocal skill, and judged he has a voice worth presenting to many listeners."
