A Jeon Yu-seong show without Jeon Yu-seong will meet audiences through the Busan International Comedy Festival.
On the 24th, a press conference for the 14th Busan International Comedy Festival was held at the Shocking K-Pop Center in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
This year, 'Busan International Comedy Festival (hereinafter BICF)' will offer audiences delightful laughter with a lineup that transcends generations, blending the past and present of Korea's comedy scene. Not only veteran comedians who have left their mark on the comedy world, but also domestic creators active on various platforms such as YouTube and live performances, as well as international comedy artists, are expected to fill Busan with uproarious laughter.
Among them, Lee Hong-ryeol, Shin Bong-Sun, and Zoltan Lee Jae-hyung·Han Hyun-min·Jung Jin-wook are scheduled to meet audiences with a Jeon Yu-seong show without Jeon Yu-seong.
The late Jeon Yu-seong passed away on Sept. 25 last year at the age of 76 as symptoms of pulmonary disease worsened. Born in 1949 and 76 this year, Jeon Yu-seong is regarded as a figure who left an outstanding legacy across multiple fields beyond being a simple comedian, including broadcast writing, performance planning and film directing.
Lee Hong-ryeol said, "The first anniversary of senior Jeon Yu-seong is approaching, and the 'Jeon Yu-seong show without Jeon Yu-seong' was created by the juniors' ideas. Fortunately, I was told there was something for me to do, so I was contacted and took part."
He added, "Not only me but all of us who respect senior Jeon Yu-seong are approaching the one-year mark since he passed away. The 'Jeon Yu-seong show without Jeon Yu-seong' will greet you with the feel of a eve. There is a first-anniversary memorial performance in the Namwon area that I want to inform people about, and because senior Jeon Yu-seong's influence and way of thinking are ingrained in those who knew him, and many of us were influenced knowingly or unknowingly, we want to honor that meaning."
Shin Bong-Sun said, "A team called me, Kim Shin-young and Zoltan has been formed. All were made up of senior Jeon Yu-seong's disciples, and I hoped a friend would be included, so I sent a love call to senior Lee Hong-ryeol. When senior Jeon Yu-seong was alive, I wondered whether he would like what we did, and he liked it when it was funny. Because this is the first BICF without senior Jeon Yu-seong, we gathered opinions wanting to put on a tribute show."
The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival will be held across Busan for 10 days from Aug. 21 to Aug. 30.
