Why did actress Jang Seo-hee choose A Trap Called Desire as her comeback work?
Jang Seo-hee will meet viewers as Joo Mi-ran, the ultimate villain who robs other people's lives entirely and spares no action to satisfy her own desires, in KBS2's new daily drama A Trap Called Desire, which is scheduled to premiere on Aug. 10 (written by Gu Ji-won, directed by Lee Dae-kyung and Jeong Kwang-soo).
Regarding why she chose A Trap Called Desire, Jang Seo-hee said, "Until now I have mainly played characters who clear up injustices and punish others, but this time I will play an ultimate villain for the first time," and added, "The most attractive thing was that it is a character that allows me to show another side of myself as an actor."
She added, "Joo Mi-ran is not simply an evil person but a three-dimensional character whose reasons for harboring desire and emotional textures are alive. The process is portrayed convincingly, which made it more appealing, and I am having great fun while acting. I am working on the shoot with that much passion."
Playing the 'ultimate' villain for the first time since her debut, Jang Seo-hee said, "It powerfully shows how one person's twisted desire can shake many people's lives and what results that choice ultimately leads to. The tense developments and the characters' narratives come together to create an overwhelming sense of immersion."
Ahead of her return to the small screen, Jang Seo-hee said, "I am truly happy to greet you with the new work 'A Trap Called Desire.' As this is the first time I challenge the ultimate villain role, it is a work that has great meaning for me. I put a great deal of thought and effort into convincingly portraying the character Joo Mi-ran, so I hope you watch with interest. Please give it much attention and love."
