Jang Wooyoung of the group 2PM is proving the true nature of an all-around entertainer with a dazzling "hybrid" performance that freely crosses between being a variety show personality and a singer.
Jang Wooyoung recently appeared in succession on heavyweight programs such as the Netflix original Screwballs: The Game of Death and KBS 2TV Noona Is A Woman To Me season 2, solidifying his status as a variety show trend. In the Netflix Screwballs series, which first premiered in February last year, Jang Wooyoung strengthened his solid standing by serving as a fixed cast member for five consecutive seasons from season 1 through the recently concluded season 5. Among prominent variety show personalities such as Hong Jin Kyung, Kim Sook, Cho Sae-ho and Joo Woo-jae, he is said to have injected energy into the program as the quirky and lively youngest member. Screwballs will return for its sixth season on Aug. 8.
Also, in the age-gap real romance program KBS 2TV Noona Is A Woman To Me season 2, he joined as a panelist and is showing off his characteristic witty speaking skills. His timely remarks that accurately pinpoint the subtle psychology of the participants and his deep immersion have drawn strong sympathy from viewers, serving as a real scene-stealing supporting role.
Having dominated both broadcast television and OTT, Jang Wooyoung widened his communication channels by opening his personal YouTube channel for the first time in his 19-year debut career. The YouTube channel opened on the 18th, "Jang Wooyoung-i," draws attention with a friendly name inspired by his native Busan dialect. After generating buzz with a provocative teaser video in which he painted his face blue and danced, the first episode released on the 22nd showed his warm, down-to-earth side as he interacted casually with people on the street about "what he would do on YouTube," receiving enthusiastic responses.
Amid his diverse activities, Jang Wooyoung also firmly maintains his primary role as a performer on stage. 2PM, which includes Jang Wooyoung, will hold a solo concert, 2026 2PM Concert "THE RETURN" in INCHEON, at Inspire Arena in Incheon on Aug. 8 and 9. This performance is the first full-group concert held domestically in about three years since the debut 15th-anniversary concert in Sept. 2023, and it proved 2PM's solid ticket power by selling out all seats as soon as ticket sales began.
In particular, the intense energy of the Tokyo Dome concert celebrating their 15th anniversary in Japan, which drew a total of 85,000 spectators over two days in May, is expected to be carried over to Incheon, raising fans' expectations to a peak. The mature charm and stage presence of a 19-year veteran idol are expected to offer another surprising attraction of Jang Wooyoung beyond variety shows.
