(continuing from interview ③) Actor Lee Dongwook shared his feelings about receiving continued love through the variety show commemorating the 10th anniversary of A Shop for Killers ahead of the release of A Shop for Killers 2.
Lee Dongwook conducted an interview on the afternoon of the 23rd at a café in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. At that meeting he spoke with domestic reporters about the new Disney+ series A Shop for Killers season 2 (abbreviated as KillSho2).
A Shop for Killers season 2 is a stylish action series in which Jian (Kim Hye Jun) — who after a harsh handover becomes the new head of the shopping mall — mounts a full-scale counterattack against the mercenary company Babylon Global with Jinman (Lee Dongwook), who has returned alive. Season 1, released in eight episodes in 2024, not only held the number one spot on Disney+ for three consecutive weeks but was also praised by The New York Times in the United States as "the best Korean series of the year."
Ahead of the return of A Shop for Killers 2 after two years, Lee Dongwook recently drew attention with the tvN variety show 'Goblin' 10th anniversary travel. Produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the popular tvN drama Goblin, which aired in 2016, this variety show featuring the drama's four leads — Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dongwook and Yoo In-na — stirred strong interest by evoking nostalgia among drama fans through their travel episodes.
Regarding this, Lee Dongwook joked, "If the variety show brings the subject into the spotlight, I thought A Shop for Killers 2 might get more attention too. The timing strangely seemed to work out well. I should be grateful to tvN."
On how it felt to have a work loved for more than 10 years, he said with emphasis, "It was really surprising. I was happy when they offered the 10th anniversary variety show, but on the other hand I felt astonishment and reverence wondering, 'How has it kept receiving steady love for 10 years?' I was also relieved that the bond between us actors has remained strong for 10 years. Please be sure to tell the viewers that I am very grateful."
Meanwhile, on Goblin's 10th anniversary travel, Lee Dongwook's remark that his ideal type was a "professional woman" became a major topic. Lee Dongwook explained the reason: "I remember there being three looks: cute (actually the virtuous wife type), sexy, and professional. I just like people who work. When people stop working they become droopy. I picked that because I thought it would be good to have someone who can be absorbed in her work."
He also laughed about the episode that drew attention when Yoo In-na asked on the broadcast, "What if your girlfriend kept using your money?", and he replied, "It's fine even if she uses my money. It's okay. I have that much." He said, "In-na was teasingly saying, 'What if she just spends your money?' but who would ever check that? Nobody would know. It was said to be funny. Actually, no one would know how much I will receive. I was amused that a joke meant to be funny became a topic."
