Singer KCM's eldest daughter Suyoni candidly expressed her hurt toward her father, who hid her for 15 years.
On the 22nd broadcast of KBS2 'The Return of SUPERMAN', KCM was shown going on a Hongdae date alone with his eldest daughter Suyoni.
After their Hongdae outing that day, KCM cautiously asked Suyoni, "This is something I'm really curious about — weren't you hurt by me at all?" Suyoni then revealed, "When only Seoyon was revealed. I didn't know," attracting attention.
Earlier, KCM first revealed his second daughter Seoyon to the public out of consideration for the sensitive eldest, and many people therefore thought Seoyon was the eldest. On top of that, the youngest, Haon, was revealed at birth, which left Suyoni feeling hurt as if her existence had been erased.
Suyoni said, "There must have been people who thought, 'Seoyon is the eldest, she was born as dad's first daughter,' but I am the eldest daughter. I guess that made me feel that way a bit," expressing sadness. Hearing this, KCM said, "You were hurt then. I'm sorry. I'm sorry and thankful to my eldest daughter," and showed signs of breaking down.
He continued, "I deeply regret not being able to attend Suyoni's elementary school sports day where parents participated. Is there no such thing in middle school? It's a pity. Dad is really good at running. That bothered me too. I'm sorry," and promised, "Still, I'll proudly go to this middle school graduation ceremony. I'll see all her close friends too."
KCM apologized, saying, "I think I was such a poor father to Suyoni and to our family, but I felt more that I should be especially better to Suyoni. I worry a lot about it."
But in an interview with the production team, Suyoni described her father as, "He tries to do everything for me, wants to make good memories and is a kind father. Dad probably wanted to announce things quickly too, but circumstances made him keep postponing. Because dad was lacking, mom always filled those gaps so I felt loved without lacking," which moved viewers.
She added, "Seoyon goes places a lot — if she wants to see a musical, they go see a musical; if she wants to see a play, they go see a play — but this is my first time going to crowded places. If I had played more with dad when I was young, I would have more memories, but I don't have many memorable things, so I feel a little sorry. I wanted to do a caricature together with just dad and take life-cut photos, and doing that in person was meaningful and fun. I thought maybe it's okay to play a lot even now," expressing her wish to spend more time with her father and adding to the emotion.
Meanwhile, KCM had his first daughter Suyoni with his wife, who is 13 years his junior, Bang Yewon, in 2012. However, due to KCM's military service and business failures, they were unable to hold a wedding ceremony, and they only became legal spouses after registering their marriage in 2021. KCM welcomed his second daughter Seoyon in 2022, and three years later, in March last year, he revealed the existence of his wife and daughter, creating a big sensation. Along with that, in December of the same year he announced the birth of his son Haon and received many congratulations.<
