'J-POP REMAKE' project was planned by Kangnam, a singer, broadcaster and multi-entertainer, and aims for the consolidation of cultural sensibilities between Korea and Japan.
It reinterprets Japanese classics that represent the era through the musical color of Korean artists, presenting them beyond simple remakes to create new content that music fans in both countries can empathize with.
After the first project, "Banquet Song," received favorable reviews for preserving the original's sensibility while adding Korean sentiment, the second project raised expectations when teaser images were released on the official social accounts on the 20th and 22nd.
The second remake song is the famous Japanese anime song "A cruel angel's thesis (残酷な天使のテーゼ)." The song, released by singer Takahashi Yoko in 1995, is widely known as the theme song of the TV series "Neon Genesis Evangelion." Nearly 30 years after its release, it is still regarded as one of Japan's representative anime theme songs and a J-POP classic, beloved across generations.
As a classic that has been steadily loved in Korea as well, expectations are growing about how it will be reborn with a new interpretation through this remake. In particular, attention is focused on how the symbolic lyric "Be a legend, young boy" and its explosive energy and majestic melody will be expressed through the sensibility and color unique to Korean artists.
