Actor Lee Dongwook returned with an even more powerful presence.
On the 22nd, the Disney+ original series A Shop for Killers season 2 episodes 1 and 2 saw Lee Dongwook return as Jeong Jin-man, leading the drama with deeper emotional acting and overwhelming action. It revealed how the gap left by Jeong Jin-man, who was reported to have died in season 1, continued, increasing viewer immersion.
In the early part of this season, the process leading up to Jeong Jin-man revealing himself again to Jeong Ji-an (Kim Hye Jun) was depicted. He infiltrates the global organization Babylon and undertakes a dangerous mission to secure an internal server, planning to use it as a bargaining chip to protect Jeong Ji-an.
During the operation, Jeong Jin-man, who again faces his archrival Veil (Jo Han-Sun), engages in a fierce bloody battle. He screams without being able to finish the fight, but ultimately succeeds in stealing the server, completing a tense development.
Lee Dongwook delivered intense screen dominance in every scene he appeared in. From eyes tinged with loneliness to the cold charisma befitting a former mercenary and CEO of Murder Help, he portrayed the character Jeong Jin-man three-dimensionally and firmly held the center of the drama. In particular, the scene in which he performs his mission wearing Veil's mask and then reveals his identity left a strong impression and heightened immersion.
The showdown between Jeong Jin-man and Veil inside Babylon combined a desperate emotional line with urgent action that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. The following scene on the rooftop, where he throws himself toward the helicopter that came to rescue him, completed a movie-like scale and drew praise from viewers.
Back at the shopping mall, Jeong Jin-man's relieved look after confirming Jeong Ji-an was safe, and the warm touch as he hugged his niece and stroked her head, depicted the two people's tender relationship more deeply.
In the scene where he calmly confesses to a resentful Jeong Ji-an, saying, "I couldn't lose you too. That's why I made the shopping mall. To protect you," and "This is my world. It's a world where if you don't want to die you have to kill someone. I did my best in it, but it was my fault that I put you in danger," his restrained emotional acting convincingly completed Jin-man's narrative.
