'Daily drama queen' actress Jang Seo-hee returns to her home network KBS after 12 years.
KBS 2TV's new daily drama A Trap Called Desire, which premieres Aug. 10 at 7:50 p.m. as the successor to Pearl in Red (directed by Lee Dae-kyung and Jung Kwang-soo / written by Koo Ji-won / produced by Studio Bom, Monster Union), on the 23rd released the main posters of Jang Seo-hee (as Ju Mi-ran) and Jeon Hye-won (as Go Eun-seol), which intuitively capture the show's intense color and fatal confrontation, intensifying the comeback buzz.
A Trap Called Desire is a fate-restoration revenge drama about a woman whose life is taken from her after being falsely accused of murder, who fights against the vast desires that drove her to ruin. Attention is focused on the fact that it is the comeback work of Jang Seo-hee, who has solidified her status as a box-office guarantee by producing hits that shook Korea such as Mermaid and Temptation of Wife.
The released main poster feels like a painting while creating taut tension. The two-shot of Jang Seo-hee and Jeon Hye-won staring straight ahead with sharp barbed wire between them overwhelms the eye. Along with the copy "the twisted desire of one woman that turned fate upside down" and the precariously blooming blue flower between the barbed wire, it completes a strange atmosphere where beauty and cruelty coexist, arousing curiosity.
In the drama, Jang Seo-hee plays Ju Mi-ran, a chilling villain who shakes other people's lives to the core and spares no means for her endless desire, radiating overwhelming charisma. By contrast, Jeon Hye-won plays Go Eun-seol, who one day is falsely accused of murder and loses everything but relentlessly pursues the truth with an unwavering gaze, leading the story. The opposite fates of those who try to bury the truth to protect their desire and those who try to reveal the truth collide, promising to deliver thrilling catharsis to home viewers.
The production team hinted at the deep narrative, saying, "This main poster captures the cruel truth hidden behind glamorous desire and the fate of two women who cannot escape it," and added, "The blue flowers blooming throughout the barbed wire symbolize the glamorous but fatal desires surrounding Cheongma Group, such as power, wealth and love."
Regarding behind-the-scenes, they said, "On the day of the poster shoot, Jang Seo-hee and Jeon Hye-won became Ju Mi-ran and Go Eun-seol themselves and fully expressed their sharp adversarial relationship," and expressed confidence that "the intense acting synergy and fierce psychological battle the two actresses will complete will give viewers deep immersion."
