Singer WOODZ (born Cho Seung-yeon) is taking on acting with the film "Nambeol."
On the 23rd, the film Nambeol (director Imo-gae, produced by Hive media corp) announced Cho Seung-yeon's joining.
Nambeol is a hard-boiled KITA action film about nine warriors of varying skills and ranks who head to Tsushima Island to rescue prisoners kidnapped by Japanese pirates. Earlier, the trusted actor Lee Byung-hun was first announced, followed by casting news for rising stars Go Youn-jung and Lee Dohyun, drawing early attention.
In addition, Cho Seung-yeon, who has been active as a leading figure of the K-icon, joined, generating expectations that he will breathe new life into the project. Cho Seung-yeon will appear as the first man.
The first man is an archer with unerring accuracy in the story. He is said to be a figure who sets out on the perilous expedition to Tsushima Island to secure the livelihoods of the family left in his hometown. As a character with a strong sense of responsibility toward his family and comrades, Cho Seung-yeon is expected to add a deep emotional line to the work with a desperate conviction to protect everyone amid the brutal battlefield.
Cho Seung-yeon, who has shown an overwhelming presence on stage with the reverse-hit song "Drowning," is challenging himself with acting through Nambeol. The fresh energy he will show in his screen debut piques curiosity.
Nambeol is the first directorial work of cinematographer Imo-gae, who has showcased distinctive mise-en-scène in bold films such as 12.12: The Day, Exhuma, Hunt, YADANG: The Snitch, and Emergency Declaration. He has been recognized for his outstanding sensibility, winning the Baeksang Arts Awards film division artistic award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards; the cinematography and lighting awards at the 43rd and 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards; and the cinematography awards at the 31st and 29th Blue Dragon Film Awards, and expectations are high that he will capture sweeping narrative, intense action and visuals in this work.
Additionally, Hive media corp, which produced films such as 12.12: The Day, Harbin, Deliver Us from Evil, The Man Standing Next, Inside Men, and the Disney+ original series Made In Korea, is producing the film. The production team is conducting pre-production aiming to start principal photography in the second half of this year. <
