'I'm SOLO' 32nd season contestants Yeong-cheol and Yeong-ja ultimately ended their relationship after a circular conversation.
On the 22nd episode of ENA·SBS Plus variety show 'I'm SOLO' (hereafter 'I'm SOLO'), 32nd season contestants Yeong-cheol and Yeong-ja were shown ending their date after a verbal fight.
Before the date, Yeong-cheol and Yeong-ja gathered in the living room to choose the dinner menu and created a chilly atmosphere from the start. Yeong-cheol asked, "Aren't we going to talk about us today?" but Yeong-ja replied, "We can talk about it later, can't we?"
Then the two argued over their tones of voice in front of Ok-sun and Gwang-su. Ok-sun tried to mediate, but it was no use. Yeong-ja said, "Why are you speaking so irritably?" and "You speak aggressively."
Yeong-cheol countered, "I admit I was wrong, but there are other people here, so you can't do that, can you?" In a subsequent interview he said, "It felt like being punished. That time was so difficult."
The two did not speak a word even in the car while moving. In the frozen atmosphere, Yeong-cheol again was the first to break the silence. Yeong-cheol apologized, saying, "I'm sorry," but Yeong-ja responded, "What are you sorry for?" and fell silent again.
Conversation at the restaurant also did not ease easily. Yeong-ja expressed hurt, saying, "If I don't start talking first, can't you initiate a conversation?" She added that she was dissatisfied with Yeong-cheol's lack of initiative and his more extreme expressions when he drank.
When Yeong-cheol kept interrupting, Yeong-ja exploded, "Listen to my whole story before you speak." Seeing this, Defconn said, "This won't work. Yeong-cheol also needs to listen attentively. If you get annoyed without hearing everything, this won't work."
They resumed the conversation, but their differences of opinion were not narrowed. After arguing for as long as one hour and 40 minutes, the MCs said, "I don't know why they keep arguing about this," and "a conversation that doesn't reach a conclusion."
In the end, the two ended the date without resolving their feelings. Yeong-cheol proposed reconciliation, saying, "I really hope we can be like older brother and younger sister," but he was rejected.
Later in an interview, Yeong-ja said, "I regret everything. We've really never fully talked. It's a pity that only Yeong-cheol was considered. If something feels off, I tend to get completely cold."
