"Hwang Shin-hye's Let's Live Together" Kim Su-chan revealed his connection with Nam Jin.
On the 22nd episode of KBS 1TV's Hwang Shin-hye's Let's Live Together, trot singer Kim Su-chan was shown spending a day at an apple orchard with Hwang Shin-hye, Shin Gye-suk and Yang Jeong-a.
That day, Kim Su-chan, who said he had been a Nam Jin fan since his school days, said he took the stage on the National Singing Contest with Nam Jin's song out of fan devotion. At that, Hwang Shin-hye asked, "How did you meet Nam Jin?"
Kim Su-chan recalled their first meeting, "Mr. Nam Jin saw my embarrassing history appearing on the National Singing Contest and contacted me through someone involved. He invited me when he held a concert in Incheon. He wore a white fur coat and had a halo that was no joke."
Kim Su-chan added, "When I got the contact, it felt like a dream. That year I went on the National Singing Contest, sang Mr. Nam Jin's song, and even though I was an amateur he saw that and contacted me." He continued, "After that he called me as a concert guest for one to two years. Even though I didn't have my own songs, he had me share a big stage," which surprised listeners.
Hwang Shin-hye admired, "You must have learned a lot," and Kim Su-chan expressed gratitude, "That became a good opportunity to build stage courage. I don't get nervous on most stages now."
Thus Nam Jin and Kim Su-chan developed beyond a teacher-student trot relationship into lifesavers in each other's lives.
Then Hwang Shin-hye asked, "What was your unknown period like?" Kim Su-chan said, "I went on the National Singing Contest, after Mr. Nam Jin's concert I released my debut song album 'Audition' and appeared on Hidden Singer in the Nam Jin episode. After that I went on Mr. Trot. I don't think I had an unknown period," adding, "Of course there were many who didn't know me. But by my standards this was fine."
Meanwhile, after the meal Yang Jeong-a asked, "Isn't it time for you to get married now?" When Kim Su-chan said he is 33 this year, the three were surprised, saying, "He looks young," and, "He doesn't look that age."
Kim Su-chan, unable to believe it, said, "I've never been told I look young. This is the first time in my life," and Hwang Shin-hye quipped, "We already said it wasn't imitation earlier, right? He really looks young," drawing laughter.
