Playlist 109 drew attention from its first broadcast by revealing actor Park Shin-yang's sustaining song.
On the 21st, the first broadcast of MBC's new variety show Today's sustaining song-Playlist 109 (abbreviated Playlist 109) covered a nationwide sustaining-song collection project that gathers the "sustaining songs" that lifted people up during hard times and the stories behind those songs to complete a 109-song playlist.
On the first broadcast of Playlist 109, to collect 109 "sustaining songs," the three MCs who gathered together for the first time — Lee Seokhoon, Lee Jun, and DinDin — showed chemistry like brothers from their first meeting. They each revealed their own "sustaining songs": Baek Z Young's "Don't forget," Juchin Dalpaengi's "As you say," and Kim Jin-pyo's "What I learned at school."
Following them, the guest who revealed the first "sustaining song" was Park Shin-yang. He candidly shared his longing for his friend Kirill, who treated him like a brother during his studies in Russia, what led him to start painting, and the behind-the-scenes story of enduring a thyroid disease for more than 20 years.
The song that helped Park Shin-yang endure was the classic "Don't worry, dear" by singer Jeon In-kwon. For this, Lee Seokhoon played the piano accompaniment himself and Lee Jun even formed a duet with Park Shin-yang. The stage that contained Park Shin-yang's life delivered a moving performance.
In addition, Lee Kwang-jin, Lee Joo-won and Kim Se-hoon, members of the Seoul 119 special rescue unit's Han River water rescue team, appeared. The rescuers' inability to relax amid the sorrow stirred emotions as they even handled an actual dispatch order during filming.
Moreover, Kim Se-hoon endured while listening to YB's classic "White beard whale" as his father collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage, and Lee Joo-won was bearing sorrow after suddenly losing his youngest brother last year. In response, DinDin and Lee Seokhoon each sang the rescuers' "sustaining songs" with heartfelt sincerity, comforting them on behalf of the public.
At the end of the broadcast, a guest appearance by popular chef Yoon Nam-no was announced. He rose to fame through the Netflix variety show Culinary Class Wars and recently drew attention for opening his own restaurant in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. The appearance of a new "sustaining song" that supported him is expected to attract interest.
