Veteran detective Lee Dae-woo, who represents Korea, has taken residence at Brandnew Music Co. and is beginning a second career as a broadcaster.
Brandnew Music Co. said in an official statement on the 22nd, "We have signed an exclusive contract with Korea's top veteran detective Lee Dae-woo." With this, Detective Lee Dae-woo will be under the same roof as Rhymer CEO and Hanhae, Muzi, GREE and others.
It draws attention that Brandnew Music Co., which has built a solid position as a music label, is recruiting a broadcaster who is a former detective rather than a musician for the first time.
Lee Dae-woo is widely recognized as the nation's top veteran detective who, over more than 40 years, has combed numerous violent crime scenes and solved major cases. In particular, he is a rags-to-riches figure who started as a patrol officer and rose to the rank of Director after arresting nearly 3,000 suspects, and he honorably concluded his police career upon mandatory retirement on June 30.
True to the nickname "crime hunter," he proved his weighty presence as a crime expert by appearing on various cultural and entertainment programs while still on duty. In addition, he was the first active police officer to receive permission to serve concurrently as a YouTuber, actively communicating with the public, and won great affection with his characteristic friendly charm and storytelling, such as by sharing his modest daily life with his pet dog "Pungsuni."
Brandnew Music Co. said, "We highly evaluated the expertise Lee Dae-woo has built over a long time and his mass-appeal communication skills," and added, "We will spare no wholehearted support so that he can carry out a wide range of activities through various content and broadcasts going forward."
It added its aspiration that "starting with Lee Dae-woo, we plan to newly rise as a comprehensive entertainment company by actively recruiting talented creators and influencers from various fields beyond musicians."
Detective Lee Dae-woo had said he would continue to act as a bridge between citizens and the police from the citizens' perspective even after retirement. Attention is focused on his future moves, which promise fresh synergy after meeting hip-hop label Brandnew Music Co.<
