Comedian Jee Seokjin will serve as the MC for the opening performance of the 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (hereafter 'Bukope').
The opening performance of the 14th "Bukope," held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) auditorium, will feature broadcaster Jee Seokjin as the main MC to open the festival. With his trademark witty talk and steady hosting, he is expected to lead the start of Asia's largest comedy festival alongside domestic and international comedians.
The performance stage will also be colorfully arranged. The cast of Korea's representative public comedy program "Gag Concert" will present the "Malja Show & gag concert gala show," offering the audience cheerful laughter. In addition, domestic drawing performance team Croquikey Brothers and overseas comedian Patrick Cotet Moine will join to present a rich show that crosses genres.
Popular band QWER will appear for the celebratory performance. Loved for songs such as "CEREMONY," "Holding back tears," "Fake idol," "My name is Clear," and "Addicted to worries," QWER is expected to heat up the opening ceremony atmosphere with its refreshing band sound and energetic stage.
The blue carpet event held before the opening performance is another highlight to watch. In addition to top domestic comedians, about 100 people, including overseas comedians from 10 countries and popular creators, will attend to add to the festival's excitement. Comedian Yang Sang-guk will host the blue carpet, leading the scene with his characteristic cheerful talk.
The Busan International Comedy Festival, Korea's first and Asia's largest international comedy festival, has led efforts to expand the base of comedy culture and revitalize performance culture over the past 14 years. This year as well, beyond performances, it plans to continue its rise as a representative Asian comedy festival by building a sustainable comedy platform that encompasses creation, education and content production.
