Singer Hyolyn expressed special affection for Sistar.
Hyolyn recently held an interview at a cafe in Seongdong District, Seoul, to commemorate the release of her fourth mini album OriginaLyn(오리지널린) and talked about the new album.
Although the "original queen" Hyolyn shows explosive energy on stage, she was recently rushed to the hospital due to a sudden emergency and canceled her Taiwan festival schedule, which eased fans' worries.
After fortunately being discharged safely and stretching her activities, Hyolyn said about her current health status, "I am working hard on recovery. It's not perfect, and they said if I return to my normal life from this condition or push myself a bit more, I could get sick, so I need to be careful. I was also told not to dance too hard."
She added, "We don't have a set time for meals and I don't eat much before singing. Because that pattern repeated with poor lifestyle and eating habits, my body seemed exhausted. I usually go out without eating anything when I wake up, but these days I even eat one banana—it's a really big change."
Regarding her noticeably lost weight, she explained, "When I was sick then I had to fast, so I lost a lot at that time and now I've put on a bit. It wasn't intentional; I naturally lost weight because I couldn't eat."
Hyolyn, who has been active as the head of a one-person agency since 2017, when asked whether the company was profitable, showed a resolute inner strength, saying, "I have to keep working. The previous times or the money that was previously invested and spent aren't regrets. It's an experience money can't buy. If more is needed, I think I should continue even if I have to use my own money. Sometimes it's so hard that I think about quitting, but each time I think, 'How long has it been since we started?' and I don't want to seem like someone who gives up soon after starting. Since I started it, I want to finish it, and with that mindset I'm enduring well."
She expressed a dream of recruiting new artists or training rookies, saying, "I really want to do it, and if the situation allows, I think I could. While doing my own work, I think that later if someone asks me to produce an idol, I could really do it well."
Mentioning the idol group Cortis as one she has been watching recently, she praised them, saying, "I was surprised when I heard their ages. Could I have performed like that on stage at that age? I probably couldn't have. Their songs are good and their performances are excellent."
Now 16 years into her debut, Sistar and fans remain Hyolyn's indispensable driving forces. Recalling that she dreamed of being an R&B singer during her trainee days but debuted as an idol at the company's suggestion, she showed deep affection, saying, "Because Sistar existed, I exist, and those times created my stepping stones. If any single moment from the times I've worked as a singer until now were missing, I wouldn't be who I am today. They are all so precious."
However, she said there are no reunion plans yet, noting, "We haven't talked about it yet. It's been too long since we've seen the members. Recently it's been the longest we haven't seen each other. We really used to see each other often. We don't make a point of gathering to take photos when we meet. We were busy chatting. Considering how often we met, people don't really know. But recently we haven't been able to see each other much, yet we still keep in touch and are getting along well."
