Love On The Menu revealed a Highlight video that captures excitement, tears and the weight of family.
The KBS 2TV new weekend drama Love On The Menu, scheduled to premiere at 7:55 p.m. on the 25th (directed by Hong Seok-gu / written by Lee Kyung-hee / produced by Monster Union, Contents Z), is a family recipe drama about two men and women who gather the shattered pieces of a family and set the warmest table of life in the world.
The Highlight video released today (22nd) opens with the introduction "Han Banjang appears whenever something happens to someone, somewhere!" and immediately piques viewers' curiosity with Han Gyurim appearing holding a baseball bat. As he skillfully solves a cube while playing with the children and rushes to the fallen Park Su-nam (played by Kang Ae-sim) before anyone else, Kim Mujin begins to follow his every moment with an intrigued look.
Surrounded by people at all times, including Park Jeong-woo (played by Min Jin-woong), who instantly had his heart stolen after receiving Han Gyurim's (Ahn Heeyeon, Hanni) lunchbox in front of the restaurant, and the mother and son Cho Heung-sik (played by Bae Jung-nam), who came to meet her saying, "Please meet my son," Kim Mujin's expression watching all of this gradually hardens. Unable to contain himself, he blurts out the feelings he had hidden with "Are you that kind to everyone?" and then shakes her heart with the heart-fluttering confession, "Can't you just be good to me?"
But Han Gyurim, who cares for her four younger siblings and is short on time between early-morning juice deliveries and working part-time at a barbecue restaurant, puts up a firm wall, saying, "I'm poor and there is no room for Mujin to interfere in my life. So don't shake me anymore." Still, he makes viewers flutter with a sweet confession: "If I'm coming on too fast and you're taken aback, I'll slow down a bit. Instead, Gyurim, you should get excited about me. It's fine if it doesn't get found out, and better if it does."
Kim Mujin becomes furious about her work, striking down a customer's head who had roughly stroked Han Gyurim's hand. But Han Gyurim pushes him away in tears, saying, "Don't be kind, don't get angry for me, and unless you want to be plunged into the cesspool with me, think that heaven helped you and run away quickly." At that, his voice refusing sharply, "No. I won't run away," and the present moment of him catching her as she falls overlap, raising curiosity about what change has occurred between them.
Meanwhile, the story surrounding Han Gyurim's family also unfolds. Han Seok-jung (played by Ryu Seung-soo), who mocked Go Yoon-hee (played by Yoon Yoo-seon) with "Don't you miss the kids?", ends up getting hit and bleeding from the nose, and her sharp rebuke—"Who is to blame for all that?"—cuts deeply. Then to Han Gyuyoung (played by Park Yu-na), who says, "I missed you, mom," Go Yoon-hee coldly replies, "My family is more precious to me than my life right now. I never want to lose them again," swallowing complicated feelings alone in the car, while the sight of her daughter left alone and crying hints at the painful circumstances of this family.
After the happiest moment of Kim Mujin and Han Gyurim, the appearance of Kim Yoon-jin (played by Miram), who says, "She is not someone you can handle, our Mujin," creates tense suspense. Then the scene of Han Gyurim turning her back on him saying, "How am I supposed to deal with this situation now?" followed by the ominous moment of rebar falling on top of Kim Mujin raises the sense of crisis to its peak. However, Han Gyurim's confession, "I'm also saying that I'm getting excited about Mujin," and the image of Kim Mujin embracing her, asking, "May I hold you, Gyurim?" leave a lingering impression.
Love On The Menu will premiere at 7:55 p.m. on Saturday the 25th.
