Super Junior's Lee Teuk and Kim Hee-cheul revealed the friendship they have shared since trainee days and memories with Girls' Generation·TVXQ!.
On the 21st, a video titled "Tracing the roots of Super Junior" was released on the YouTube channel 'Salon Drip'. That day Lee Teuk and Kim Hee-cheul appeared as guests and shared behind-the-scenes stories from their early debut days.
The two said they often clashed while sharing the same room at the dormitory in their early debut days.Kim Hee-cheul said "We were so different that we fought a lot when we were young," adding, "Now that we're over 40, we've come to understand that we can be different from each other." He continued, "It hurt my heart when Teuk said, 'My friend is only you,'" and "From then on I decided to try to understand Lee Teuk," he revealed.
They also revealed what brought them closer.Kim Hee-cheul said, "At a company dinner, Lee Teuk, who doesn't drink, stayed until the end for me, and seeing that made our bond stronger," he said.
Their personalities were polar opposites. Lee Teuk said, "There is so much household work that I don't meet people unless it's an important appointment. Most of my engagements are work-related," he said. In particular, recalling SM Entertainment's heyday, they shared memories of being with Girls' Generation and TVXQ!. Kim Hee-cheul recalled, "We used to be really close with Girls' Generation and TVXQ!," saying, "We would take the same car as Girls' Generation, go to the Han River, play music in the car and eat jjajangmyeon while hanging out." Lee Teuk added, "Before enlisting in the military, we were like family to the extent that we would all go on a pension trip together."
They also mentioned Lee Teuk's presence at SM today. Kim Hee-cheul praised him, saying, "Although the generation gap with juniors has widened a lot, Lee Teuk is now like an SM employee," adding, "He is such an important figure that he even serves as MC at company-wide dinners. The company cannot do without Lee Teuk."
In response, Lee Teuk laughed and said, "If the company recommends me, I take it on; it's not that I'm actively promoting myself," adding jokingly, "Doing a lot of MCs doesn't mean they'll give you a director position," which drew laughter.
