Danielle, a former member of NewJeans who is suing ADOR for damages, shared an update and her feelings on the group's fourth debut anniversary.
On the 22nd Danielle uploaded a photo to her social account with the message "Life sometimes gets cloudy, but the light always comes back" and "Keep shining until then. I am forever grateful."
The released photo showed Danielle posing against a backdrop of blue sky and a river. She showcased a hip charm wearing an oversized zip-up, short shorts, a denim ball cap and large silver hoop earrings. This was meant to share her current status and express thanks to fans supporting her amid the lawsuit with ADOR.
Danielle is currently facing a damages suit filed by ADOR. Earlier, Danielle and the other NewJeans members clashed with ADOR after notifying ADOR of contract termination over the 2024 dismissal of former CEO Min Hee-jin and other reasons. After about a year of litigation ADOR won the first trial in the suit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract, and afterward Haerin and Hye-in returned to ADOR after consultations.
Later Hanni and Min-ji and Danielle also expressed belated intentions to return, but ADOR said "After sincere talks Hanni decided to respect the court's ruling and stay with ADOR. Min-ji is also talking with ADOR and they are continuing discussions to broaden mutual understanding," while saying it had informed Danielle that "it judged it would be difficult to continue with her as a NewJeans member and ADOR artist and notified her of exclusive contract termination," a statement that drew attention.
In addition ADOR said "we judged there is significant responsibility for causing this dispute and for the NewJeans departures and delays in returns" and filed a damages suit seeking about 43.1 billion won against Danielle, one member of Danielle's family and former CEO Min Hee-jin.
At the third hearing of the damages suit held on the 2nd of this month ADOR argued that Danielle was the only NewJeans member to unilaterally carry out musician activities, was the only one to independently execute commercial activities (magazine publication), established a cooperative replacing the entertainment agency and entered into a dual contract with Chinese capital, that her violations were the most serious and she made no effort to remedy them but instead blamed or concealed issues from the plaintiff (ADOR), obstructing recovery of trust.
Danielle's side countered, "The plaintiff has pieced together evidence to make it seem that only defendant Danielle committed serious violations after learning of these matters following the suit to confirm contract validity, but the plaintiff already knew them during the prior litigation," adding "They claim only Danielle committed significant contract violations, but then there are many commonalities among the NewJeans members. If they want to claim a truly serious breach, the Hong Kong ComplexCon appearance was a contract violation by all of them."
They added, "(ADOR) told other members to fix or correct things, but I don't know what actually changed," and argued, "If they had told Danielle to do it, couldn't she have? She was never given the chance. Danielle had already decided to terminate the contract and sent a certified letter," continuing the sharp confrontation.
