Broadcaster Kim Sook shared that her Jeju house nearly faced another crisis.
On the 20th, a video titled "Kim Sook full-on realizing her Jeju dream? Decorating the yard and catching crabs ...see more" was uploaded to the "Kim Sook TV" channel.
That day, Kim Sook set out to decorate the garden with her fourth older sister at the Jeju Ssuk House. She explained, "Today our sister finally came. What she brought was hydrangeas. Her hydrangeas at her house are so pretty. Spearmint, rosemary. My sister's house smells strongly of rosemary."
She then planned to plant lamb's ear and hydrangeas at the entrance, spearmint and rosemary in the living area, and cannas in the remaining space. But she earnestly pleaded, "Don't dig deep into my yard. What if something comes out. Don't dig recklessly."
Earlier, Kim Sook's Jeju house was designated as a national heritage area during construction, so it had to undergo pre-remodeling test-excavation procedures. Moreover, an item suspected to be an artifact appeared during the "Unpredictable" filming, creating a risk of construction delays.
Meanwhile, while digging the ground during garden work, Kim Sook discovered something and froze, saying, "Did something else come out? It's not an artifact, right?" Then she relaxed and made people laugh by saying, "No. It's not a button."
But another crisis came. Kim Sook confessed that a (tax) delinquency notice arrived and her house was at risk of being taken away. She had checked the tax bill that arrived at her house late. While trying to set up automatic payment, she said, "I guess I have to go online," checked her laptop again, and added, "Tell them I look happy," which drew more laughter.
Meanwhile, in 2012 Kim Sook and Song Eun I purchased a 230-pyeong Jeju Seongeup village house, but after settling the equity, Kim Sook became the sole owner. The house was in a national heritage designated area, so during remodeling they had to obtain permission for changes in appearance from the Korea Heritage Service and meet several requirements such as preserving the Jeju basalt stone walls and thatched roofs in their original form. However, just as the construction was finishing, the national heritage designation was lifted in an astonishingly timed move that drew much attention.<
