Actor Lee Junyoung will enlist after successfully finishing Reborn Rookie.
Lee Junyoung will enter the recruit training center today (21st), complete basic military training and serve as an active-duty soldier in the army.
Earlier, Lee Junyoung had revealed in a handwritten letter on the 14th of last month that he was scheduled to enlist in the military on July 21.
He said, "I have been worrying for months about where to begin my story and after much thought I ended up writing this myself," adding, "I'm already on my 10th rewrite." He went on, "Rather than having the news delivered through articles, I thought it would be better to speak directly, so I'm leaving this note," and surprised everyone by announcing, "I will enlist on July 21."
Lee Junyoung said, "Now that the date is set, I've been thinking a lot after a long time," and added, "I will go and return healthy and true to myself. Until the day I greet you again, I hope everyone stays healthy and has happy and meaningful times in their own places."
Then on the 6th he released a video saying, "Not yet." In the video the phrase 'Private Lee Junyoung, I'm off. Loyal! The country calls' moved across the screen. With two weeks left until his enlistment, Lee Junyoung denied the reality by saying not yet, which provoked laughter.
Although Lee Junyoung is enlisting, the hiatus during his military service is unlikely to feel long. Three works will be released in succession.
On Aug. 29, tvN's new weekend drama Four Hands will begin broadcasting. In addition, the Netflix series "This Damn Love" will be released, and the film "Japis" has finished filming, so they are expected to meet audiences during Lee Junyoung's military hiatus.
