Singer Lim Young-woong revealed an unreleased self-composed song for the first time on broadcast and candidly shared the secrets and concerns of his music-making process.
On the 21st, SBS's 'Sangol chonggak Young-woong' aired, where Lim Young-woong, Nucksal, Roy Kim, Kwak Beom and Heo Kyunghwan talked together about their music-working methods and creative processes.
That day Nucksal asked Roy Kim "Do you compose on guitar? Where does your energy come from" and Roy Kim said "When a clever idea or something I want to do comes up, I record it every day," adding "lyrics and melody come out almost simultaneously, but I keep revising the lyrics for months." Nucksal said he tends to write lyrics first, and Lim Young-woong agreed, saying "For me, the lyrics have to come first, too." However, he said "There are songs where I wrote the entire melody first but the lyrics don't fit," and admitted "I keep worrying because the lyrics that match the emotions I have in mind don't come out," revealing the difficulties of creation.
Afterward, Roy Kim and Nucksal each revealed unreleased songs in turn, and amid everyone's anticipation Lim Young-woong also performed the previously unreleased self-composed song "TtoTto" for the first time.
Lim Young-woong explained "'TtoTto' isn't about the other person rejecting me nor is it a fling. I didn't approach first, but thinking it probably wouldn't work I tried to pull away, yet my heart keeps going back to that person," He continued, "I told you I'm into Latin pop, right? In Latin music you hear the syllable 'to' a lot, and connecting that to the lyrics felt fun, so I titled it 'TtoTto'," revealing the behind-the-scenes.
Lim Young-woong played the unreleased song live to the accompaniment stored on his cellphone, and Nucksal, who heard it, exclaimed "It's so good?" However, Lim Young-woong cautiously responded, "It's still too lacking so I keep worrying." Heo Kyunghwan advised, "Nothing is perfect. Even if I think it's perfect, public reaction can be different," and Roy Kim encouraged him, saying "Do whatever you want to do, hyung Young-woong," creating a warm atmosphere.<
