Comedian Park Na-rae's former manager was arrested.
On the 21st, MBC reported that the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul arrested former manager A of Park Na-rae on the 16th on charges including attempted extortion.
According to reports, A is accused of demanding from Park Na-rae's side an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's 2024 sales while claiming that "Park Na-rae used company funds for private purposes such as for an ex-boyfriend." In addition, A is also reported to have embezzled about 30 million won in company funds.
Park Na-rae is embroiled in allegations of abuse of power against former managers and illegal medical procedures. The former managers filed a complaint in December last year accusing Park of defamation and violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, saying they suffered damages from "gapjil" including workplace bullying during their employment, proxy prescriptions, and nonpayment of production expenses.
Park Na-rae was questioned by police twice in relation to the manager-related case. After finishing a police investigation in February, she said, "I participated sincerely and answered truthfully," but avoided specific comments on the abuse of power allegations and circumstances such as thrown drinking glasses raised by the managers, saying they were "matters to be revealed through investigation." After completing a seven-hour second summons investigation, Park Na-rae only said, "I answered the questions sincerely. I think it will be revealed through the investigation. I apologize for causing concern," and left while avoiding specific comments.
