Actor Im Chae-moo once again carried out a benevolent act by helping expand cultural experience opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
On the 19th, according to the Down Welfare Center and others, Duriland, located in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Down Welfare Center and appointed Im Chae-moo as its official goodwill ambassador.
This agreement was made to provide various cultural experience opportunities to people with developmental disabilities who are often excluded from leisure and cultural life and to jointly carry out a disability awareness improvement campaign.
Im Chae-moo will actively participate in promotional activities to expand cultural accessibility for people with developmental disabilities and to promote the rights of people with disabilities. He said, "If Duriland was a space that gave children dreams, I hope it will become a complex cultural space that also brings hope to people with developmental disabilities," and noted, "I will help create a society where everyone can smile together regardless of disability."
Im Chae-moo's good deed is even more meaningful because he is known to be operating Duriland while carrying debt totaling 19 billion won.
Duriland is an amusement park that Im Chae-moo established in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, around 1990. At the time of its founding he took on about 4 billion won in debt, and later suspended operations in 2017 due to financial difficulties. But Im Chae-moo did not give up. After selling his Yeouido residence in 2020, he again accepted about 19 billion won in debt and, after extensive remodeling, reopened Duriland.
Despite massive debt, Im Chae-moo, who has preserved the space for children and families, is now continuing his warm efforts by engaging in activities that deliver culture and hope to people with developmental disabilities.<
